On June 21st, 2024, shortly after 11:10 PM, Fredericton Police Force responded to a call of a fight in progress on the 500 block of Union Street. Upon arrival, police found a 71-year-old male who had been stabbed and was critically injured. The male was transported to the hospital.
Police quickly apprehended two suspects and later arrested a third after he fled from police. Members of the Forensic Identification Section, Major Crime Unit, and RCMP Police Dog Services assisted with the investigation.
The 71-year-old male unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. Two 17-year-old males were held in custody pending court appearances, and one 15-year-old male was released.
The investigation is ongoing. Further details to be released as they become available.
