
Celebrate Canada Day in New Brunswick’s capital city!
Visit Downtown Fredericton for a day of FREE family fun and entertainment! Starting at noon, explore activities including bouncy castles, art activities, and interactive activations in the Historic Garrison District. Entertainment will run on the main stage in Officers’ Square from noon until 10:30pm.
You can dance if you want to, because Men Without Hats is coming to make this Canada Day extra special as the headlining act! Other live shows will include Fredericton’s own Kylie Fox, Ella Campbell, L’Aboiteau, Muskrat Singers, as well as performances from the Multicultural Association and so much more! This event is proudly supported by the City of Fredericton, Heritage Canada, and Downtown Fredericton Inc.
**Please note, with fireworks scheduled to take place from the Westmorland Street Bridge at 10:30pm on July 1, the bridge will be closed from 7:30pm to approximately 12:00am to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic on July 1. Boating access to the Wolastoq (Saint John River) will also be restricted to below the Carleton Street piers or past the Small Craft Aquatic Centre from 9:00pm to 12:00am.
About the artists:
9:15pm - Men Without Hats are a Canadian synth-pop band led by original members Ivan and Colin Doroschuk. Best known for their 1980s hit “The Safety Dance,” the group continues to create and perform, blending retro and modern sounds. Their latest project, Again, features both covers and original songs, reflecting on themes like love, life, and society. Over the past decade, they’ve toured worldwide and gained new fans, while also celebrating milestones like the induction of their hits into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame. Their music remains culturally relevant, appearing in TV performances, ad campaigns, and public service videos.
7:30pm - L’Aboiteau is an Acadian band that blends folk, trad, Celtic, and rock. In 2023, they won a RADARTS award at FrancoFête en Acadie, leading to a 14-show tour. In 2024, they performed in France at Pause Guitare Festival and received the Marc-Chouinard Acadie-France Award. That same year, they released their album "C’est l’histoire de...", inspired by Acadian legends. The five-member group is known for its lively, story-driven performances.
6:30pm - The Muskrat Singers are a Wolastoqiyik Drum group of the Wolastoq (St. John River). Made up of members from the various communities along the wolastoq but are based out of St.Mary's Fredericton. They sing traditional and contemporary Wolastoqey songs. They combine a unique original sound to contemporary powwow songs and are currently the only Wolastoqey "powwow" drum group in the world.
5:15pm - Kylie Fox is a Fredericton-based Canadian singer-songwriter who blends folk, jazz, and alt-rock influences. Known for her vivid storytelling and unique sound, she released her debut album Green in 2020 and has toured across Canada. Her latest single, “Confetti” (2023), offers a taste of her upcoming album Sequoia, produced by Daniel Ledwell. Fox has performed at major festivals and showcases, and was named Innovator of the Year at the 2023 PrixNB Awards.
3:45pm - Ella Campbell is a singer-songwriter from Fredericton, who is making waves in the music scene with her distinctive blend of country and rock. With a sound that leans into the heart of Americana, Ella’s soulful, mature vocals captivate listeners and set her apart as a rising star in the industry.
